What happens when you have a vacancy that needs to be filled? You have to find someone to take over that position. Now what happens of you have two excellent candidates for it? but there is only room for one. Well in MMA their is only one way:Fight. A new King will be crowned as Dominick Reyes and Jan Blachowicz will collide for the LHW title.
This will be the first time in nearly ten years that a new LHW champion will be crowned(that isnt Jon Jones or DC).
Reyes was the most recent contender for the title which seen him narrowly miss out of the championship against Jon Jones earlier this year. Fans believed Reyes was the rightful winner of the contest, he himself said so too.
It was a heart sinking moment for Reyes but it would be short lived.
Earlier this year Jon Jones relinquished his LHW title in what was a shocking moment for the sport, the King of the divsion has walked away leaving the door open for anyone. The UFC had to act quick and they did when they announced a title fight between Dominick Reyes and Jan Blachowicz will be for the vacant title. Both fighters now locked in for the championship and the fans will get a new King of the divsion, a breath of fresh air.
This will be Jan Blachowicz's first crack at the LHW title after years of working his way up the divsion. Jan is on a 3 fight win streak and most recently has notable KO's over Corey Anderson and former MW Champion Luke Rockhold.
The former KSW LHW Champion will be looking to so of his famous Polish Power this weekend and take home the title and make history as Poland's first Male UFC world champion.
Chaos will be on order for this fight, expect it from the opening bell and I will recommend not to blink either. Both Dominick and Jan are known for their KO power and will be looking to become the new LHW champion in a fashionable way.
