We are in the Era of Super-Fight's and this fight should get the attention it deserves.This is the Super-Fight that many are not talking about and it is taken place at ONE:Century part two as ONE Light-Heavyweight Champion Aung La N Sang will be defending his title against ONE Heavyweight Champion Brandon Vera. Brandon Vera is looking to become a Double Champion in the promotion, also this will be the first time Vera will be dropping down a divsion since joining ONE, while Aung La will be looking to keep his hot streak of defences intacted and remain the Champion.
Aung La N Sang is on a roll in ONE the last few years capturing both the MW and LHW titles. This will be his first time defending the LHW title since winning it back in 2018 at ONE:Quest For Gold. Aung La then went onto defend the MW title 3 times since then also. Now Aung La has his biggest test to date in Brandon Vera.
Brandon Vera debuted in ONE Championship back in 2015 and it didn't take him long in the promotion to win the HW title. He won the title at ONE:Spirit Of Champions when it only took him 26 seconds to win the fight and be crowned the new HW Champion. Vera would go onto defend the belt twice, once in 2016 and then later in 2018. Fans and MMA media did criticise Vera for his long layoff's and other obligations outside of ONE, but Vera is now looking to prove and become a Double Champion at ONE:Century and that win would shut all criticism down.
Aung La N Sang vs Brandon Vera was immediately booked straight after Aung La defended his MW title against Ken Hasegawa for the second time at ONE:A New Era. While celebrating his TKO victory over Hasegawa, Vera entered the cage and Challenged Aung La for his LHW title, it didnt take Aung La long to accept and also for ONE to book the fight. It was officially. A Super-Fight was on the horizon. The outcome for this fight can benefit both fighters hugely. Vera who is looking to become a Double Champion, a win for him would make him the top-dog in ONE. With Vera also being the face of the promotion, being Double Champion means everything to him.
While A win for Aung La could actually open doors for him going up to Challenger Vera for his HW title at some point, Aung La is already a Double Champion, why not make it 3.
If Aung La can defeat Vera, it will make Aung La probably the most important fighter in ONE Championship, defending and deflating the Face of the Promotion.
