"Wrestling is Fake" is a term that has been thrown around so so much, that now when I read it or hear it, I laugh because I know exactly what I'm looking at and I love it. Pro Wrestling is not fake its scripted entertainment, just like TV shows,movies the outcome is already known and has to be performed to complete the whole process. However unlike TV shows and Movies, there are no stunt doubles, the wrestlers themselves have to perform and put on a show for the fans even a far to go and perform risky spots all in the name of entertainment.
Last night at AEW Full Gear a match that has been brewing for sometime finally happened as Kenny Omega and Jon Moxley came face to face for the first (Official) time. Did it meet expectations? Did it deliver? Was it all Hype? It was all and more as both Omega and Moxley put on one of the most brutal Matchs in quite some time, especially for and in front of Mainstream audiences. The Match went from 0 to 100 very quickly and it just didn't stop until the end. It was full steam ahead from the opener bell.
Chairs,Chains,trash cans, tables, barbwire baseball bats and even Glass was used in this match, it sounds like a shopping list but no these where weapons. If your one of those Wrestling fans who is used to WWE "Hardcore" matches, then I'm sorry, this was Hardcore Wrestling at its finest, which seemed to shock fans, those of who know about this style of matches. Maybe because,for once it was very well known wrestlers doing this for once, rather then indie wrestlers, I don't know? but that's my opinion.
Some of the spots in the match had me screaming "Oh My God" in a Joey styles way because it was that type of match. None other then the 'Spider Web' bardwire spot. Jesus Christ lads! Omega/Moxley went back and forth both attempting to throw each other into the "Spider Web", It was when Omega attempted a V-Trigger but Moxley blocked it and surplexed Omega and both went crashing into the barbwire. At this point I had my hands wrapped around my head, just thinking "Holy God Lads, your Fxxkin Mad". Both Men made it back to the ring afterwards even after other spot when Omega drove Moxley through one of the entrance stages. Back in the ring, Moxley started to unwrap the canvas exposing the woodboards of the ring itself. After a failed 450 splash by Omega landing straight face first on the woodenboards (other holy Sh+t moment) Moxley ended the fight entirely by planting Omega with his finisher the "Death Rider" head first (again) onto the boards.
It was a brutal match for both wrestlers and fans even after a few hours of the match are still undecided how to deal and feel about the whole Unsanctioned Match altogether. Some Loved it (Myself included) Others felt it was too much even for Mainstream Wrestling. What you think about Last nights match between Omega/Moxley you cant deny that they put on a show and put everything on the line all for the name of entertainment. They took some damage and serious injuries from last night's Match. So next time someone says to you "Wrestling is Fake" show them this match and then tell them to "Fxxk Off" Marc Meepmma/52ndmma
