"They say an eye for an eye A tooth for a tooth, but... A code of violence and vengeance is written in blood" - Dave Peter's (Throwdown)
Jeremy Stephens vs Yair Rodríguez will run it back this weekend at UFC Boston. We all know how the first encounter ended. Stephens and Rodríguez where scheduled to fight at UFC Mexico and it was meant to be a huge opportunity for both fighters. It was Yair's first time fighting back In his homeland in some time and a win would get him on track to title shot and also make him a star in Mexico. Stephen's wanted to end all that hype, get a back into the winners circle and avoid a three fight losing streak. Both fighters now locked in the cage, the hype was real, it was set. What happened next however changed everything.

Only 15 seconds into the fight Rodriguez accidentally poked Stephens in the eye. The referee every stopped the fight straight away. Herb Dean gave Stephens the five additional minutes to get himself checked out and return to the fight, but from what was happening in the octagon, it looked like Stephens was really injured, he couldn't even open his eye for the doctor to exam it. Stephens did everything he could and Herb gave as much time needed, unfortunately it just wasnt enough. Stephens was clearly in trouble, Herb waved off the fight. Well the crowd went crazy.

The second the fight was called off fans started throwing bottles into the Octagon at at Stephens, the place was on the verge of a riot. Yair didn't help the situation by even yelling at the fans and even "celebrating" on the octagon cage. Stephens was escorted immediately to the back where fans threw everything at him while dealing with a potential eye injury aswell. Not a good look for Yair Rodríguez, not only celebrating but then afterwards accusing Stephens of faking the injury altogether and claiming he won and didn't even want the fight in the first place. How did a fight that no one cared about turn into a heated rivalry in such a short time. This fight this week at UFC Boston has all the MMA fans attention. Alot of fans where upset and mad at Yair because of his reactions in, during and after the fight. Let's just say, some fans want to see Stephens to get his revenge. An unexpected change of events since UFC Mexico.
