Stipe Miocic is the Baddest Man on The Planet as he recaptured the HW title from Daniel Cormier at UFC 241. The Fight lasted longer then anyone expected, especially after how the first one went. It was a gruelling 20 min war for both DC and Stipe as they went back and forth for the title. It was a test for both Fighters as both had more to prove to the MMA world then just winning the title.
Some of you might be aware or actually dont know, there is no 'Rematch Clause' in any UFC fighters contract, winning the title or even being a sitting champion. In Boxing there is, regardless of how the fight went, its mandatory for the Winner to give the loser an immediate rematch. It is rarely seen in the UFC, unless it's a very close fight. Why am I Saying this?Well because there is no 'Rematch Clause', Stipe Miocic did what he thought was best, Sit out until he got his rematch, refusing nothing less.
The UFC was determined to book a Super-Fight between DC and Brock Lesnar straight away after DC's First round KO of Stipe at UFC 226. Stipe was just thrown to the side, an afterthought.
Months later it was announced that Brock Lesnar had Retired from MMA and resigned with WWE. The Super-Fight was off, and this was the opening Stipe needed, and sure enough he got it. With no clear contenders, The rematch was set. DC vs Stipe 2 was announced.
Now Since his victory at UFC 241, Stipe has entered a place in UFC history that I think will be untouched for awhile. Stipe is the First HW fighter to defend his belt three times and now is a two time HW champion. With that Statement and Status, Stipe has the World in the palm of his hands now.
what do you think is next for Stipe?
A Trilogy with DC?
A potential Fight with Jon Jones?
The Stipe Era 2.0 is now in effect.
