Khabib Nurmagomedov has the longest winning streak in MMA ever with an jaw to the floor record of 27-0. I said this in my last blog, but Khabib is arguably the best Fighter in the World, and/or soon to be of all time. The Russian has beaten all his opponents, either by TKO,Submission or straight up 'Mauling' his opponents with his Elite level Wrestling. Many have come and gone, Many have said they know how to beat him, and all have failed doing so. This weekend at UFC 242, Khabib puts not only his Streak on the line, but also his Lightweight Championship, When he faces Dustin Poirer in the main event.
What is it about Khabib that makes him seem untouchable to any fighter that faces him? Is it his aura? His presence? His Mentality? It just seems that Khabib is miles ahead of any fighter that he faces, And when that bell rings, His opponents look like they regret signing up for the fight once Khabib gets going. Once Khabib grabs a hold of them, it's like they mentally check-out and have no answers, caught in a trap, just wanting it to be over soon. It's never over soon though,Khabib will break you down mentally and physically,that's it.
At UFC 242 Khabib will be facing Dustin Poirer for the LW Title, A fight that has been slowly growing over the last while, as the weeks and now days before the fight, Fight fans didn't really take notice at first (or cared to be honest) but now has everyone's attention. What makes this a great fight in the making is one simple thing: This is a Champion vs Challenger fight, no beef, no Drama, no trash talk. Just two of the best in the World battling out for the Ultimate prize. A Old Skool fight in a way, Both Khabib and Dustin has only spoken respectfully about each other and have wished each other luck in training and the fight itself. No bad blood required at all, Which has me more excited for this fight. I can't wait for UFC 242 now.
