Now this is the first of a series that I will be doing leading up to fights from now on, so heres my first of many 'Meep's Mindset'. Basically it just going to be me predicting what I think might happen and how things could play out, a bit of fun for once, no serious articles. Now this fight has finally gotten the attention it deserves, for awhile now, not alot of people where even interested in it. Now that we are just Days away from UFC 242, the hype is real and the potential outcome of this has alot of people already on the edge of their seats. So let's start my first 'Meep's Mindset', Here we go.
What Happens if Khabib wins?
Khabib is an interesting character, I must say, his Mentality alone should be studied and broken down, he is unlike any MMA fighter the world has ever seen before, you don't get to 27-0 just out of luck. His Wrestling is above Elite, well advanced then any other fighter. Khabib heavily relies on his wrestling to win his fights, it's his bread and butter, and you can't not say your not in awe of it. Khabib has been know to go 'rogue' sometimes in the octagon and abandon's his gameplan, tries to go for the kill but then takes a step back, reajusts and he's back to his gameplan. Khabib needs to stick to the plan against Poirer, if Khabib wants the win, he cant go wild in the fight, Poirer has been in more Brawls then Khabib, Poirer is not afraid to swing and that may be Khabib's weakness, his standing game. Khabib needs to wear Poirer down front the beginning, takedowns and GnP, break Poirer mentally then physically. If Khabib sticks to the wrestling and Constant pressure, it will too much for Poirer. It will be along night if this happens.
What Happens If Dustin Wins?
Well this is the more interesting outcome out of the two, if Khabib wins, he wins and defends the title and everyone will react normally, but if Dustin wins, Well expect everything to change. Dustin is going into this fight as the ultimate underdog, he's facing the most dominant Fighter in UFC'S history and he's doing it in other Country. You think that will effect Poirer? Nope! Poirer is set for this fight, this is everything that he has worked for and he will not let anything distract him for his life goal, to become a Champion. Now as I said above, Poirer has been in more Brawls then Khabib, so throwing down isn't new to him and he is not afraid to do so. What Poirer has to do is keep distance and avoid the takedowns, easier said then done, he needs to show Khabib his power from the get-go, that being both is takedown defense and his Boxing. If Poirer hits Khabib early and gets his attention, that would put Khabib on the back-foot and get Khabib not wanting to stand. Poirer could trick him into a stand up fight, but look for an opening once Khabib shoots for the takedown. Poirer cant start this fight slow, thr second the bell rings, he needs to pressure Khabib. Dustin can either do two things, play the long game and piece Khabib for 5 rounds, keep distance and avoid takedowns, win by decision or just go for it and make history.
