The last time we heard from Jeremy Stephens was when he fought Zabit Magomedsharipov at UFC 235 earlier on this year. Stephens confident enough that he won the fight, but upon hearing the results it didn't go his way and congratulated Zabit and left the octagon. This was Stephens second loss in a row, he will be dammed to make it a third.
Jeremy Stephens returns this weekend at UFC Mexico in the main event against Mexico's own Yair Rodríguez. This fight when it was first announced, didn't really get the fans jumping. Pior to this fight happening, Yair came off one of the best fights ever at UFC Denver, when he KO'd Korean Zombie the last second of the fight, but then took time off after his victory, nearly a year, and didn't capitalise on his win with a follow up fight. Now he returns and is headlining this event in his Homeland,looking to get back on track after alot of ups and downs. Jeremy Stephens on the other hand, wants to cause an upset and spoil the party for Yair.
Going into this fight with Yair, Stephens actually took time and trained with Tony Ferguson for this fight. He wanted to get into that Fight mind-set and learn from Tony about training and to get some experience. It worked. Now that this fight is just days away, Stephens just doesn't want to win, he wants to expose Yair and his weaknesses to the MMA World. Stephens doesn't want to get anywhere near that third straight loss, so expect the Stephens of old to come out in this fight at UFC Mexico.
This man is ready for War, going into this fight as the underdog and fighting against the Hometown hero is never an easy task, but Stephens is ready and is hoping to get back in the win column this weekend.
